The fourth grade classes started the year with a watercolor technique used with markers.  They created the contour drawing of a bike, traced the lines and shapes with patterns of black and filled in the negative space with warm or cool colors. They followed with a colored pencil drawing of a still life inspired by 15th century Flemish artists. The students went through a series of skills from gesture drawings to blind-contour drawings to help exercise and develop the art of looking and seeing in different ways.  Currently we are working on a clay rainforest relief piece that is in the process of glazing and firing.
