Policies and Procedures

Birthday Treats  Some children like to bring birthday treats for their classmates on or near their birthday.  This is a nice gesture, but please do not feel obligated.  If you decide to bring a treat, I do ask that it is something that is easy to distribute.  Please be sure to consult the new dietary guidelines our school has adopted.  I also ask that you provide any other supplies that you think would be necessary such as napkins or plates.

Friday Folder and Newsletters  Each Friday students' work will be sent home in a Friday Folder.  The folder will contain all work completed and graded for the week.  I will list any missing or late assignments for the week.  This keeps you up to date on a weekly basis and lets you now if your child is getting their work in on time.  A parent's signature is required to verify communication.  The folder and signed Friday Folder sheet should be returned to school on Monday.  Any Friday Folder sheet not returned and signed by Tuesday will be considered a late assignment for the next week.  Newsletters will highlight curriculum and other important school information.

Book Orders  I will pass out book club flyers and if enough children have an interest in ordering, I will process the order.  Please send a check made out to the book company.  Books may be used for Reading Olympics IF they are approved by me first

Transportation  Please write me a note to let me know if you are picking up your child from school, especially if they are a walker.  This way I can remind them at the end of the day.  If they are to ride the bus, but are being picked up instead, please let me know with a note.  This will help at the end of the day to make sure your child gets home safely.

Assignment Notebook  Each student is to have an Isaac Fox assignment notebook.  They may be purchased from the office for $5.00.  Assignment notebooks serve as a vital tool that helps keep students organized and up to date with their work.  Students will be expected to write all assignments listed on the assignment board daily and to check and make sure they have everything they need before they leave each day.

Homework  Homework is given to reinforce what is learned during the day or to prepare for upcoming lessons.  Homework helps me determine whether students understand the concepts of a lesson.  It develops self-discipline and responsibility.  If your child is spending more than 1 to 1 1/2 hours on homework, please contact me.

Homework Policy  Every assignment has a due date.  An assignment is considered late if it is not finished or it is not at school in the morning.  Assignments with more than two unfinished parts will be considered late.  Students will not be allowed to call home for missing work.  A ten percent or one letter grade penalty will be deducted from late work.  Any assignment should be made up by the following Friday or it is recorded as a zero.  Zero assignments can add up to a significant grade deduction at the end of the trimester.

Class work will be recorded for the absent student.  The absent student is expected to check with me to make sure that they understand all work that is to be completed and that they know when it is due.  The student and I will determine when he absent work is due.
