Outdoor Education Field Trip

Lorado Taft Field Campus, Oregon, IL

March 22nd - 24th, 2010

Philosophy

We believe that the outdoor education experience should:

  1. extend and enrich District 95 curriculum concepts learned in the traditional classroom setting,

  2. enhance the potential for self-realization through the development of the individual,

  3. strengthen human relationships through the democratic process,

  4. encourage civic responsibility through an understanding of our ecological role in the environment.

Understanding that youngsters will be energetic, curious, adventuresome, fun seeking, and striving independently to identify with something larger than self, we attempt to fulfill their needs with learning processes which allow for the greatest possible growth.  This learning evolves through direct experience.  The thrill of exploration and discovery enhance the learning experiences and capitalize on the children’s natural interest and enthusiasm.
