Demonstration Classrooms

What are Demonstration Classrooms?

In the 2013-14 school year, Lake Zurich CUSD 95 has established three demonstration classrooms- one at 3rd, 4th and 5th grades.  The classrooms serve as exemplars of practice in using technology to support student learning.  The demonstration classrooms benefit from additional teacher and student technology resources in order to better understand what devices enhance the learning experiences.

Our demonstration classroom teachers have created model lessons, supported individual teachers throughout the district, and provided workshops for teachers based on teacher interests.  Our ultimate goal is for colleagues to observe these classrooms and create a video library of best practice instruction.

Examples from the Demonstration Classrooms

In our 4th grade demonstration classroom, students began the year using "technology" to get to know one another.  Students created personal mission statements. Writing these mission statements caused students to assess their strengths. In addition, the mission statements helped develop a community in the classroom because students focused on communicating clearly and listening attentively as they learned about the individuals in their classroom.  Click here to see some examples.

Students used the Tagxedo website to create the end product- a picture of themselves made up of the words that describe them.
