How do I enroll my child as a tuition paying
student?
Send a request in writing to the Superintendent of Schools, 400 So. Old
Rand Road, Lake Zurich, Il. 60047-2459. Requests will be granted on
a space available, one year basis. The request should include the
agreement that the parents will be responsible for tuition, transportation
and understanding that the acceptance will be on a one-year basis.

-
How much
would tuition be if my child were accepted as a tuition paying student?
$10, 270.00 per year for academic year 2008-2009 payable weekly in advance. In order to be
accepted, the parents must request permission from the Superintendent in
writing, agree to provide transportation, and understand that acceptance
would be on a year to year basis. Normally, the only students
considered as tuition paying students are those whose parents have
contracted to purchase a home in the District, and wish to enroll their
child prior to closing on that home. Each application is considered
on its merits alone.
-
What are the major responsibilities of
the Board of Education?
Formulating, adopting, and modifying
District policies, employing a Superintendent, approving other employment
decisions as recommended by the Superintendent, approving the annual
budget, tax levies, annual audit and other aspects of the financial
operation, as well as approving curriculum, textbooks, and educational
services. For a complete listing of powers and duties of the Board
of Education, see the Board Policy Manual, section 2, page 2:20.
-
Are School Board
Meetings open to the public?
Meetings of the Board of Education are
open to the public. An agenda is posted at the Administration
Building, and on the District Web-Site 48 hours prior to the meeting.
There are times when a confidential matter must be discussed with the
Board for deliberation, these matters are discussed in closed session, and
are not available for witness by the public. For a schedule of meetings,
see the district web-site: lz95.org. Agenda information can
also be obtained by calling 847-540-4963.
-
What is a closed
session?
Certain items need to be discussed on a
confidential basis, and will not be open for the public to witness. Types
of issues discussed in closed session are: Personnel issues, Student
discipline issues, collective negotiating matters, purchase or lease of
real estate, setting of a price for real estate, litigation, emergency
security procedures, matters relating to individual students, self
evaluation, and others as allowed by law.
-
Why aren't recent minutes or minutes
from closed sessions posted on this site?
Minutes from regular meetings will be available within seven days
of being approved by the Board at it's next regular meeting, which usually
occurs on the 4th Thursday of the month. Closed session minutes are
kept confidential until the reason for holding them closed no longer
applies.
-
I've heard about a new law requiring
closed session meetings be recorded, does District 95 record all closed
session meetings? Yes,
even though the regulation came into effect on January 1, 2004, this Board
began recording closed sessions at an earlier date.
-
How long are board records kept?
Board minutes are kept
indefinitely. All minutes of closed session meetings are reviewed every
six months to determine whether any can be released for public inspection.
If the Board determines they should be released, a vote will be taken at a
regular Board meeting, and upon request, members of the public may view
them. Taped recordings of closed session minutes are held for a
minimum of 18 months, and cannot be checked out for listening, except upon
receipt of a court order. For additional information on closed session
tape recordings, see Board Policy Section 2.

We are planning to
buy a home in the district, and want to enroll our children at the
beginning of a school year instead of moving mid-year when the house
becomes available. How can we do this?
Board policy (7:60) states that “Only
students who are resident of the District may attend a District school
without a tuition charge, except as otherwise provided in State law. A
student’s residence is the same as the person who has legal custody of the
student”.
Until the student becomes a resident of
the district, they may apply to the Superintendent for admission on a
tuition paying basis. The Superintendent may approve the request subject
to the following:
1.
Admission is on a year-to-year basis. Approval for any one year is
not authorization to attend a following year.
2.
The Board of Education will designate which school
3.
The student will be accepted only if there is space available
4.
The student’s parent(s)/guardian(s) will be charged the maximum
amount
of tuition as allowed by State law.
5.
Transportation to and from school will be the responsibility of
the parent(s)/guardian(s).
6.
If admitted as a tuition paying student, tuition is based upon the annual audit of school finances, payable
weekly in advance. (for 2006-2007 tuition is $254.30/week, no reductions
can be made for sick days).
-
We are planning to move out of the district, will
I have to pay tuition if we leave the district prior to the end of the
school year?
Board policy allows a student who has begun the school year as a legal
resident of the district to complete the academic year in the same school
without tuition payment. Transportation to and from school will be the
responsibility of the parent.
