COURSE DESCRIPTION
Home
Economics I is a one semester course offered primarily to freshmen and
sophomores. The course is designed to give
the students an overview of the Home Economics curriculum. The course offers students the opportunity to
explore and develop abilities in food preparation, personal relationships,
child development and basic sewing skills.
The course material will be studied in an activity-oriented laboratory
environment.

Clothing

student will…

Learn
to recognize and use sewing equipment

Learn
basic sewing techniques including hand stitching and sewing on a button

Learn
the parts and basic operation of the sewing machine

Construct
2 sewing projects in class
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

Students
will be expected to participate in class discussions

A
variety of assignments will be completed during class time
·
Homework
assignments will be turned in on time for full credit
·
Quizzes
will be given on a regular basis
·
Final
exam will be worth 20% of the final semester grade
EVALUATION

Make-up
work must be turned in by date indicated
·
All
points are totaled at the end of the marking period to determine final grade

90 – 100 = A 70 – 79 = C
80 - 89 =
B 60 - 69
