Personal Info:
I graduated from
Northern Illinois University in December of 2005. My concentration was
jewelry and metalwork, but I also enjoy sculpture, ceramics,
printmaking, and painting. I also took two years of graphic
design in college.
This is my second year
teaching at Lake Zurich High School and I teach Art Foundations and
Graphics. I took a Darkroom Photography class over the summer
which I thoroughly enjoyed. I am also currently teaching a Hip Hop
class at CYT after school.
Philosophy:
My goal as a teacher is
to present an art class that allows students to explore and interpret
the visual world around them. The visual world including art, movies,
music, advertisements, and any visual image present in society.
I’m also a firm believer
that each student learns in a unique way. So my job is to be there as a
facilitator/guide to assist them in their own self directed learning; to
build on their strengths and improve on what needs work.
I also think it is vital
to start with subject matter students are interested in and combine that
with the formal art techniques and skills.
