Grade 9 Counseling Curriculum

As a result of participation in the LZHS developmental counseling program, every grade 9 student will acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes to:

  1. identify career interests by taking a career interest inventory.
  2. analyze their skills, abilities and interests to establish goals, plan and prepare for the future.
  3. make decisions about courses to take by developing a 4 year plan.
  4. understand the relationship between the courses they take, graduation & post-secondary requirements and the importance of setting goals.
  5. apply decision-making skills to deal responsibly with daily academic and social situations.
  6. evaluate their personal abilities to gather information, generate alternatives and anticipate the consequences (both positive and negative) of their decisions.

The above objectives will be accomplished in the fall during the 4 year plan using Career Cruising and throughout the year during monthly freshman study hall meetings.
