Syllabus:
Objective of course:
The purpose of this course is to introduce the students to literature. Included in this course is a survey of literature, grammar, composition, vocabulary, and communication skills. Emphasis is placed on the development of basic skills in reading, written expression, comprehension, and communication.
Expectations:
Students are expected too follow LZHS’ Code of Conduct at all times. This includes respecting the teacher, follow classmates, and school property. We are all part of the classroom, in order to have a successful year we all need to respect each other.
Students are expected to be in their seat, with all materials, ready to work when the bell rings.
Be prepared with all required materials. Every day you will need your textbook, a English notebook, a English folder, your homework, and something to write with.
Actively Participate in all classroom discussions and activities.
Complete all in-class and homework on time.
Late assignments can be turned in the following day for half credit.
Cheating is unacceptable and will result in a “0” on the assignment or test.
Students who are absent are responsible for asking for make-up assignments.
Students should not have I-pods, or other music devices out during class.
There is no food allowed in the classroom at anytime.

Grades will be based on total points on the following scale:
A+ = 100-97 A = 96-93 A- = 92-90
B+ = 89-87 B = 86-83 B- = 82-80
C+ = 79-77 C = 76-73 C- = 72-70
D+ = 69-67 D = 66-63 D- = 62-60
F = 59 and Below
Extra Credit assignments will be given from time to time throughout the year for students who want to raise their grades.
