The premise of this effervescent story centers around the son of the fabled King Charlemagne, a young prince named Pippin, who finds himself both at odds with his father and somewhat lost, searching for the meaning of life and existential fulfillment in his “Corner of the Sky.”  Pippin’s journey towards both passion and an extraordinary life finds him crossing paths with a traveling theatrical troupe, led by a charismatic Leading Player. The eclectic group of troubadours help to tell Pippin’s story, consoling and shepherding him as he struggles between royal and romantic issues. Faced with many choices and subsequent tragedy, Pippin eventually becomes King himself, complete with a new set of life dilemmas, and must ultimately decide between a life of magic and adventure versus a simple, peaceful and purposeful life.

“The story of Pippin is close to my heart as a director because it was the first show I acted in,” says director, Tom Skobel. “The group of high school actors are dedicated to theatre and telling stories on stage as much as their “player” counter parts are in Pippin. This show with the current students is exciting to see because their passion for theatre is evident in a show where mine began.” This spirited yet poignant musical about a young person trying to find his place in life is filled to the brim with infectious songs, incredible choreography, clever staging and plenty of razzmatazz!
