You can support our Earth Foundation efforts and save land by purchasing a t-shirt. For every 10 t-shirts sold, 1 acre of rainforest is saved. Opportunities to purchase can be made by contacting a 6th grader, lunch time table sale and after school. Catalogs and designs are available in room B208 in the 6th grade hallway. Nominate a Science and/or Math Teacher: The Abbott Laboratories Chapter of the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society is giving individual students an opportunity to nominate a teacher for the "Outstanding Science and/or Mathematics Teachers of the Year" award. A form for nominating a teacher can be found in the main office (electronic copies are also available). Nominations must be made by an individual student (not several students nominating one teacher) and seconded by Mr. Richter. Nominations will be judged based on the comments about the teacher made by the student. The following criteria will be used in judging: A demonstrated commitment to teaching The use of innovative methods and approaches to teach science or math concepts Instilling into students the value of their science or mathematics education Recipients of the award will receive a $200 check, and a grant of $500 will also be given to the school. Forms are due to Abbott Laboratories by mail, email, or fax by March 26. The Isaac Fox PTO will be hosting the Fourth Annual Junior Knights Scholastic Chess Tournament on Saturday April 10th, 2010. The tournament will be a 4-round Swiss pairing tournament that does not have eliminations. There will be trophies for the ‘Top 5’ individuals in each section as well as the top school in each section. The sections are grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Please see the attached form for more information. If your child loves to take photos, write, paint, draw...showcase their work in LZMSN's award-winning Voices & Visions Literary and Arts Magazine. Original pieces of art will be photographed and returned, or photograph the piece yourself and e mail it to school. Submit stories, poems, songs via e mail, preferably in a Word document.
