The Cross Country team maintains a no-cut philosophy and is a great way for all students to get involved in a school activity. All students get to participate in all regular season meets and the conference tournament.

Coaches:

  • Elizabeth Rathgeber - Mrs. Elizabeth Rathgeber has been teaching since 1990.  She has been a teacher in Lake Zurich since 1993.  At that time she started coaching cross county and track.  She continued to coach both sports until the birth of her second child in 2003.  In order to spend more time with her children she decided to coach only one sport.  At this time she only coaches cross county, which she competed in throughout her high school years.  She enjoys watching the runners improve their times as well as build their self-confidence throughout the season.
  • Mike Podraza - Mr. Podraza is a parent of two young girls. He has been teaching and coaching since 1992. He has been a Health/PE teacher with MSN since 2000. Mr. Podraza has been coaching  Cross Country since 2001. Mr. Podraza also has experience in coaching Softball, Volleyball and H.S. Baseball. He enjoys watching the athletes improve and mature over their three years at MSN.
  • Bill Herlocker - Mr. Herlocker has been a coach at North for 14 years. He loves the enthusiasm the kids bring to this difficult sport. We have sent many of our runners to compete downstate, including a 6th place finish in the boys' competition in 2004
  • Kim Klipstein - Mrs. Klipstein has been teaching special education at MSN since 1996. She has been coaching track since the spring of 1998 and Cross-Country since the fall of 1999. With both maintaining a no-cut philosophy, it is always great to see kids from all athletic abilities participate. Improvement is emphasized no matter where an athlete may finish in a race or event.
