Ms. Foglia’s Algebra and Pre Algebra Course Expectations

Welcome to a new School Year!

Daily Requirements:

1. Textbook

2. Pencil and red pen for grading

3. LZNSN agenda

4. Scientific Calculator

5. Notebook

6. Loose leaf paper

Classroom Policies and Procedures:

1. Be in your seat and ready to work at the designated start time.

2. Be respectful to everyone in the classroom.

3. Come ready to learn and apply yourself daily.

4. All math work must be done in pencil.

5. No food, beverages or cell phones in class.

Grading Policy:

1. Homework is worth 25% of your overall grade. Completing homework is critical to your success in eighth grade math courses. It will prepare you for the types of problems you will see on quizzes and tests. Homework will be graded daily according to the following policy:

75% - 100% = 100 points

50% - 74% = 60 points

49% and below = 40 points

Late Work = 20 points

2. Quizzes /Notebook are worth 25% of your overall grade. Daily notes will be critical to your success in this class. Notebooks will be graded each quarter and will be worth a quiz grade. Your notebook will provide you with varied examples and key vocabulary to aid in successful completion of homework. Your notebook will be a key study component for quizzes and tests.

3. Tests are worth 50% of your overall grade. Tests cover the material presented in class notes, homework, and quizzes. If you are absent the day of the test, it must be made up after school.

Homework + Notebook and quizzes + Tests

25% + 25% + 50% = 100%

Final Grades will be based on the following scale:

90–100% = A, 80–89% = B, 70–79% = C, 60–69% = D, 59- 0% = F

Absent? Find a study buddy in class. Copy all missed notes into you assignment notebook. Homework can be found in class and will be written on a calendar in class. If you have missed a quiz or a test please see me. Tests must be made up after school. Remember this is your responsibility not mine!!
