6th Grade

Students in 6th grade study the Elements of Art through the creation of both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional works of art.
Units in drawing, painting and sculptural ceramics will be explored. Emphasis is placed upon practicing good craftsmanship and proper presentation of artwork.

Post-Impressionism Painting

Students learn about the Elements of Art and two Post-Impressionist artists, George Seurat and Vincent van Gogh. After discussing the benefits of using a
proportions grid for imagery lay-out, students are then asked to create a painting based on the style of one of the artists:
Seurat. . .optical mixing through the use of small dots of color
Van Gogh. . .vibrant color & linear brushstrokes to depict motion
