Introduction:

This is unlike other WebQuests where you "pretend" to be an official with a career and a purpose. |
|
With this WebQuest, You ARE the official, and although you might not call it a career, your present "occupation" is that of a student. And I need your help. |
|
I am asking for student help with a real task, reviewing my websites. I have created 24 websites for you to use as a resource in our science class. I know there is room for improvement, but I am asking you, the subject and purpose of the websites, to be the expert and review all of them. |
|
Most of them apply to specific subjects we will have the opportunity to learn about this year in 7th grade science. |
|
There are 24 websites for you to review (not including this one). |
|
Your Team's Quest is to critically review all of them and prepare a presentation on your review and your recommendations for changes. |
Your Task:
While reviewing the Web Sites, questions you should be asking include:

What are the name of the websites? Do the names match what information is inside? |
|
Are they easy to find? Can I navigate from site to site easily? |
|
Can I read them clearly? Can I find information if I was looking for it? |
|
Is there "news I can use" in the websites? (for classroom homethrills, research, etc.)? |
|
Do the links work? If not, which ones don't on which website? |
|
Are there other links I know of that would be better than what is here? If so, suggest some. |

Be Critical. Follow the questions above. I won’t take your criticism personally; however, keep in mind that these are in the interest of our Science Class and not for entertainment. So be specific, don’t just say “...the Plants website is boring because I think plants are boring!” That doesn’t help us. We are looking at the websites used for the purpose of research for our science class. Consider them seriously. |

Here's what your individual grade will be based upon:

An accurate, detailed, and non-biased review of the websites. |
|
Your recommendations and suggestions for improvements and/or changes. |
|
Your presentation, verbal, written and electronic. |
Presentation:
Each
group will present their role in the investigation.
The presentation will be judged by their peers based upon the following
criteria scale:
|
1.
Clarity of information. |
|
2.
Incorporation of visuals and graphics into the presentation.
Using
word or power point, visuals such as pictures, graphs and charts are a must.
|
|
3.
Accuracy of information.
As you meet with your team, make sure the
information you have matches collectively with the others on the team.
During your presentation, if one person states “the information was good”
and the other states “not much information” your information will be
conflicting and thusly inaccurate.
|
|
4.
Conclusion. This is the most important part of the presentation
that most people wait for since it either supports what they agree with or
argues against them. Plan it carefully. |
