Pictorial Timeline
1860 - Present
Ch. 4-17
Objective:
Create a timeline that depicts
significant events representing the building of a powerful nation. 16A
Step One- Create a basic timeline format, with 20 years for
each 8 x 11 sheet of paper. Use one side
only. Arrow the ends
of your line to show the continuum of time.
Step Two- Add each presidential term, showing dates in
office. Create columns clearly
delineating each presidential term. Be
careful to show time accurately. James
Garfield’s term of 6 months should look very skinny compared to Grant’s 8
years.
Step Three- Go to the timeline at the beginning of each
chapter. Enter each event from the
nation and world events onto the proper place in your timeline. Create simple symbols or pictures for each
event.
Step Four- Add color either in your
pictures/symbols or in the background.
