Deutsch 1 ~ 2006-2007

Willkommen bei Deutsch 1! This year we will pick up where we left off in 6th grade German and then learn much more! We will use the textbook Deutsch Aktuell 1 and a mixture of Frau K’s activities to learn about the German language and culture.

We will cover Chapters 1-5 in the textbook. By the end of the year, students will be able to communicate written and spoken about the following topics:

Chapter 1: alphabet, greetings, and basic grammar

Chapter 2: numbers, family, and basic time expressions

Chapter 3: activities, specific time expressions, and expressing likes and dislikes

Chapter 4: schedule, classes, and schools in Germany

Chapter 5: European countries, weather, and travel

During a typical week we will:

  • Write in German
  • Speak in German
  • Receive 2-3 homework assignments
  • Prepare a vocabulary study method (examples: notecards, write words multiple times, study with a family member, etc.)
  • Take vocabulary quizzes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Take a cumulative vocabulary quiz on Friday
  • Review vocabulary and grammar through  games, activities, and projects

Classroom Expectations:

  • Come to class prepared with textbook, notebook, homework packet, and vocabulary list
  • Come to class with a positive and supportive attitude
  • Be willing to try the German language… we all learn from mistakes, even Frau K
  •
