Rose Garden in Duluth, MN. Frau K's home town.
Guten Tag! Ich heisse Frau Jill Kragseth! This is my seventh year at
Lake Zurich Middle School
North. I really love teaching at Middle School North! The students
bring so much energy and excitement to learn to class everyday. I also
enjoy getting to know my students and their families during the 3 years
that they are in German.
I am originally from Duluth, MN. Duluth is a beautiful city right on
Lake Superior, so I feel very at home
in the Chicagoland area with Lake Michigan nearby! My parents still live
there and I had a chance to visit them a few times this summer! I have 2
younger sisters who live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
I went to college at the University of
Wisconsin- Eau Claire. I majored in German and History Education. I
also swam competitively there for 4 years. While in college I had the opportunity to
train in Hawaii. I also studied abroad during the Spring of
2000 in
Lutherstadt-Wittenberg, Germany. I lived with a host family there and
studied at a small university.
I completed my student teaching at 2 different high schools in Eau
Claire, WI. One quarter I taught history and the second quarter I taught
German. After graduation, I went home to Duluth and lived with my parents
while I substitute taught in Duluth and also Superior, WI.
I recently completed my Master's Degree in Education from
Saint Xavier University. It was tough, but I learned a lot and know it
will benefit my students in the long run. I'm looking forward to taking
more classes in the future.
This past summer, I traveled to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, &
Liechtenstein with 8th grade students. Going to German speaking
countries with students is so much fun! I hope to travel there again
this summer with students. I also spent time
with my family in Minnesota and visited a friend in Washington DC.
I will be coaching Girls Volleyball (winter) and Track (spring). I will also
be the sponsor of the girls and boys swim teams at Lake Zurich High
School. I always enjoy watching the student-athletes make progress during
the season. Participating in sports also introduces student-athletes
to new friends. As a former high school and college athlete, I always
found that athletics helped me meet wonderful new friends and also helped
me to manage my time more wisely. I was always a better student when I was
in season... there are only so many hours in a day to eat, sleep, learn,
train, and talk with friends.
