Language arts is a class where students learn about themselves as writers. They will tap into their own creative worlds. Throughout the year, students will be exposed to numerous genres of writing such as: descriptive, essay, expository, persuasive, and narrative. Within each genre, students will learn how to take a piece of writing through the five stages of writing: pre-write, first draft, revise, edit and final draft.
Along with writing, students will also learn grammar in
numerous units of study. By the end of the year, students will become
familiar with all parts of speech, and they will be able to "diagram"
using my unique approach. Students will enter high-school with the
knowledge and capability of writing a topic and concluding sentence, thesis
statements, using correct pronouns, and providing ample support in a formal
paper.
