Course Syllabus for ELL 2, Seventh Grade

This year we will be fine tuning our students work.  Majority of our students are fluent in English, yet still need extra help in language arts, vocabulary development, as well as writing skills. 

In particular, at the beginning of the year, we will focus on developing writing skills.  We will also work on language arts, with the Daily Language Review book, and the Daily Paragraph Editing book. 

We will also concentrate on building vocabulary through our Vocabulary, Everyday Living Words series.  We also have other books in the series, which concentrate on different areas of school related topics, like social studies, science, art and music.

We will work on grammar, utilizing our Grammar in Usage book, English in Context.

We will utilize our Prentice Hall textbook, where we will read poetry, short stories, and plays. 

Different novels will be read during the year, mostly concentrated in the second semester.  Our novel list will include, The Dark Pond, Holes, and others to be decided on during the year, at the teacher’s discretion, keeping in pace the student’s abilities.
