Welcome To Eire

For my dream vacation, I will be visiting Limerick, Ireland.  I will arrive Tuesday, July 22, and leave Tuesday, July 29. Ireland is a very interesting country with a long history. The Celtic tribes arrived on the island between 600 and 150B.C. The English took over Ireland. In 1916, a rebellion failed, but started the beginning of several years of guerrilla warfare that finally resulted independence from the UK for 26 southern counties, including Ireland. Ireland withdrew from the British Commonwealth in 1948, and joined the European Community in 1973. The Irish government has sought a peaceful unification with North Ireland, and has cooperated with Britain against terrorist groups. A peace settlement has been sought with North Ireland, but it isn't going great. In 2006, the Irish and British governments developed and began to implement the St. Andrews Agreement, which is making improvements to the Good Friday Agreement which was approved in 1998. It is also a very religious country, with many residents being Roman-Catholic. People that live in Ireland attend church regularly. There are many things to do and it should be a lot of fun.
