 Orchestra

For Kids

    Orchestra is a great way to have fun and learn to play awesome music. You get to choose between the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Orchestra can also have band instruments but our orchestra doesn't. My favorite part about orchestra is when you play something right that you couldn't do before and someone compliments you. It makes you feel really good about yourself and encourages you to continue playing in orchestra. All of the orchestra instruments use bows.

Violin The violin has the highest pitch of all the instruments in a string instrument. It is a small instrument (for a string instrument). It is played on your shoulder Its has four strings the G string (lowest), the D string, the A string, and the E string (highest). It plays the melody a lot and uses a treble clef (below).

Viola The viola is a lot like the violin. It is a bit bigger than a violin. It is played on your Shoulder. The viola is higher than the violin. It has four strings the C string (lowest), the G string, the D string, and the A string (highest). It uses a alto clef (below).

Cello The cello has a lower pitch than most of the instruments in a orchestra, but it isn't the lowest. It is about the size of a small child.  It is played sitting down, on your lap. Its has four strings the C string (lowest), the D string, the G string, and the A string (highest). It plays the harmony a lot and uses a bass clef (below).

Bass The bass has the lowest pitch instruments in a orchestra. It is played standing up . It is the size of a average preteen. Its has four strings the E string (lowest), the C string, the G string, and the D string (highest). It plays the harmony a lot and uses a bass clef (below).
