EVERYONE CAN JOIN, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SHOW UP!
Why join recycling club?
Recycling club is one of the many clubs we have in
our school. Joining recycling club will help save the world. During recycling club we walk
around the school to pick up all the recycling bins and empty them into the
recycling carts. Every classroom has a recycling bin. There also are bins
located by the washrooms throughout the school. We separate the cans from
the paper and bottles. Then we take the paper and bottles out to the recycling
dumpsters and recycle them. During recycling you get to hang with friends and
push the recycling carts. Everyone in recycling club always has fun when they
come.
Recycling club is every day during homeroom. That means 6th graders go during their 4th period homeroom and 7th and 8th graders go during 10th period homeroom. All grades can come after school on Tuesday and Thursday every week. Different days have different routes. To find out what routes are which days please contact Mr. Vossel, the recycling leader. All you have to do to join is show up.

If you come after school we take the recycling out to the dumpsters. We also take the recycling from the cafeteria. It usually takes us two trips to take the cafeteria's recycling out to the dumpsters. After taking out the recycling we consolidate cans. We put all the cans in to the Goesintobag. The Goesintobag is a garbage bag that the cans get put into. If we have time after we finish taking out the recycling we play Muffit Ball. Muffit Ball is a game made up in recycling club a few years ago. If you would like to know more about Muffit Ball ask a recycling member or Mr. Vossel. Most of the time after school during recycling Mr. Vossel gives popsicles to the recyclers.
On June 9th, 2004, our school was given the Earth Flag.
To get the Earth Flag we had to do the following:
Initiate A recycling Program for the entire year
Call in SWALCO to do a program for During School and After School Participants
Send in monthly records of amounts recycled
Do an all School recycling project (we did locker clean-out)
Have a certain amount recycled by the end of the year
