Boys Volleyball

Things to know:

Mr. Grimm is the head coach for the boys volleyball team. You must sign up with him before you try out.

There are two teams, an 8th grade team, and a 6/7th grade team. Not everyone will make the team. To try out you must have a physical on file, no grades lower than a C, and you can't have any detentions on tryouts. For tryouts you will be expected to wear loose clothes that you can move around in. If you make it there will be an athletic fee. There are 14 games that start up in February and end in March.  Uniforms will be provided if you make the team.

How to Play:

How to Pass the Ball: To pass the ball bend your knees and grip your hands together. Don't swing your arms, because you will not have any control were the ball will go.

How to Set the Ball: To set the ball place your hands above your head, and push the ball upward using the tips of you finger. The key to a good set is getting the ball nice and high so your spikers can get a good hit.

How to Spike the Ball : To properly spike a ball one must jump in the air and hit the ball down to the opposing team. A spike is often a compliment to a set, and will make it harder for the other team to set the ball.

How To Serve the Ball: There are a number of ways to serve the ball. You can serve the ball overhand which is better because it make it harder for the other team to return the ball. If you choose to serve over hand then you also have the option of a open hand or closed hand serve. You could also serve the ball under hand. This is easier for some players to execute, but it is much easier for the other team to return the ball, and it is also easier for them to set up a spike.
