What is Cross Country?
Cross Country is competitive long distance running. There are meets held throughout the cross country season. Run as fast as you can so you can help your school's team win. Cross country is great in you want to get into shape. Everyone can enjoy cross country. Before you begin cross country you must be aware it is a big commitment, and it will not be easy. With dedication you can become really good.

How To Sign Up
Cross country is a no-cut sport, meaning there are no tryouts. Anyone can join the team. In the beginning of the year a meeting is held and they give you all of the forms you need to sign up. There is an athletic fee required. You also must have a physical on file, or you won't be able to join.

Practice
Cross country practices are held almost every day during the cross country season. Monday- Friday practices are from 2:30-4:00. Friday practices are held from 2:30-3:15. During practice you get a lot of exercise. You start off with warm-ups and stretches. Then you go and run. You will not run long distances in the beginning. You will slowly work up to longer distances. You may come home in pain after a good practice. This just means that you practiced well, and you are becoming better at running.

Cross Country meets.
Cross country meets are competitive events. The times are put together and the team with the best time is the winner.  These meets are really fun. But you need to try your hardest so your school can win.

  5. Yourself
     

Sectionals

The team picks 7 runners and 3 alternates who are there in case one runner can't run. If runners qualify at sectionals can go to the state event.

Self Conditioning Sites

You can Self- Condition at home to improve your running ability . The more you practice, the longer and faster you can run.
