Geometry Study Tips
Learning
how to study for a math test or quiz can be a challenge for many students. The
class will spend time during the first few weeks of school going over ways to
study for a math test or quiz.
As shown
earlier, the math binder is an excellent tool to use. Students can start by
reviewing their notes and then move on to the homework section. The quickest way
to use the homework section is to look for assignments with a lot of colored pen
on them. This is a good indication that this section needs to be reviewed.
During each chapter, there may be a short quiz. This should also be kept in the
binder and is an excellent review for a test.
The book is also a great tool to use
for studying. Within each lesson in the book are important definitions and
examples with explanations. Students should look over each section and check
themselves for understanding. They can do this by completing a few odd problems
from the section. Students can then check the answers in the back of the book.
Because much of the first semester of geometry focuses on proof and they can be
rather lengthy, the book does not publish answers for proofs in the back of the
book. Students should see Mrs. Wilmot for answers to proofs or even numbered
problems.
At
the end of each chapter is a summary and review with answers to some of the
problems also located in the back of the book. Students should be aware that we
may not cover every section in a chapter so there may be problems in these areas
that they do not know how to answer. Students should ask the teacher which
problems would be good to review.
