Baseball got its start in the 18th century when people played for fun and created their own rules. Professional baseball clubs started to form in the 1860's. During the early 20th century baseball became more dangerous. Pitchers were throwing inside the plate and way to close to batter. Later pitchers began to throw at players heads which lead to deadly fights. Players formed the players union and were unhappy with how much they were getting paid and went on strike in 1994. and for the first time the world series was cancelled after 92 years. Finally in 1996 the league and the player's union reached an agreement. To this day, baseball is one of America's favorite sports and is also known as America's pastime.

I started playing baseball when I was about 6 years old. It was rookie league which is coach pitch and its really not that fun but that didn't stop me. Once I turned 10 I really took interest in the game. Me and my dad went to the fields everyday to practice so that by the time I was 11 I would be in red division in major league. ( which is the division for 11 and 12 year olds). I ended up making it and also made the post season travel team. The next year I continued to work hard and made red again and the travel team again and we ended up going 18-1. For the last two years I have played on a full time travel team. Our team is good and contend in tournaments, making it to two consecutive medal rounds.
