What Is
Dance
Dance is a sport and art form
that refers to movement of the body, usually rhythmic and to music,
used as a form of expression, social interaction or just for fun because
you love dancing.
Types of
Dance
- Ballet
- Ballet is more of the
traditional styles of dance. It usually consists of slow music and
graceful movements. There are many types of ballet forms but the two
I like are Contemporary and Classical Ballet. Contemporary ballet is
a form of dance influenced by both classical and modern dance.
Classical Ballet is the most formal of ballet styles, it has mostly
traditional ballet styles.
- Jazz
- Jazz has a lot of
flashy moves and has a lot of different movements, The movements are
more sharp and of flexed property.
- Tap
- Tap dancing
involves a lot of rhythms. Tap shoes are what makes tap so
distinct from other types of dance styles. This type of dance
focus more on your feet and your feet movements rather than your
whole body. There are many concepts of tap dancing because you
have to make the sounds clear rather than "muffled", you have to
learn to move your feet in certain patterns in order to create
different types.
- Point
- Point is very
distinct for its shoes, they are narrow and have a flat
point. In order to do this dance style you have to be
conditioned and balanced. This dance requires you to be
standing on the tips of your shoes rather than your heels.
- Hip Hop Dance
- Hip Hop is more of a
free style, break dancing type of dance. Hip Hop is moved by
listening to the beats and creating moves.
- Modern Dance
- Modern dance is
mostly movement. In
modern dancing it
tells a story, by
the way someone
moves, or the
emotions and
expressions on their
face.
-
Lyrical
- Lyrical is a combination of ballet, jazz, and modern. Lyrical means to express the meaning of the "lyrics" in the song. Grace and fluency is important in this type of dance, leaps should be high and soaring and turns should be clean and should flow well.
