The Wonderful World of Toys

All bird species need these important things, TOYS. Toys prevent plucking, and other boredom problems your feathered friend may acquire. Below is my BRB rules of toys. They work to make sure no harm comes to your bird.

BUY NATURAL TOYS!
Toys made of plastic and rubber are alright, but I have found that birds prefer toys made of wood, dry grasses, and other edibles.

READ LABELS!
Be careful to not get toys with lead paint. They are toxic to anyone, or thing.

BE SAFE!
Make sure that the toys purchased are the right size for your bird. Don't buy a macaw sized toy for your parrotlet, he could get stuck if there are holes in it. Don't buy toys with sharp edges that may hurt your pet!

By following BRB, you can assure a healthy, happy bird!

How To Toys

What is a how-to page without some how -to -crafty things? I have tried all of these on my bird and more, but I will only show you the ones I have been successful with.

The Tube of Fun!

This toy is great for med. to large sized birds. Make sure not to leave it in the cage for more than 1 day!

Materials;

  1. 7 paper clips
  2. paper towel tube (Use a toilet paper tube for smaller birds)
  3. tooth picks
  4. random bird-friendly foods. (cheerios, seeds, veggies)

Cardboard Curls

These can be hung up in your birds' cage for them to chew.

Materials;
Paper towel tube
Scissors

Process;
Cut tube into spiral, hang in cage.

Noodle Nest

My bird loves to eat and play with the noodles, it is kind of messy though.

Materials;

Process;

Bunch up the noodles in your hand, use the twist tie or yarn to tie them together. Put in cage.

Toy Wire

A personal favorite, it is fun to make and your bird will love it!

Materials;

Process;

Take the wire and bend one end over itself. Thread all the random objects onto the wire, but leave about 2in space at the top. Bend the other end of the wire into a circle. Attach the carabineer, hand in cage.

Egg carton Surprise.

This is easy, and really fun!

Materials;

Process;

Fill the carton with your birds treats; close, put in cage.

Raisin Boxes

This doesn't require any crafting, just give your bird unopened mini raisin boxes. They will love tearing into them!
