Snowboarding is a sport that involves the rider going down a slope or a mountain while their feet are attached to the board using special boots and bindings

Snowboarding

The First snowboard was created and made in Utah. The development of snowboarding was inspired by skateboarding, surfing and skiing. It was developed in the United States in the 1960s and the 1970s and became a Winter Olympic Sport in 1998. Dimitrije Milovich had the idea of sliding on cafeteria trays. From this he started developing his snowboard designs. In 1972, he started a company called the Winterstick, which was mentioned in 1975 by Newsweek magazine. The Winterstick was based on the design and feel of a surfboard, but worked the same way as skis.

This is the actual Board: It has a very smooth bottom and sometimes the top part ( blue in the picture ) has a gloss finish. Many snowboarders like the bottom of their board to be a neon color ( green, pink, orange ) so the color reflects on the bright snow ( the green color of the board to the right will reflect on the snow )

Bindings: The 2nd of 4 parts of a complete snowboard. The bindings hold your feet and boots on to the board. The bindings screw into the holes that you can see on the blue and white board above

Boots: Snowboard boots are specially made to fit bindings, so you cant wear normal snow boots while snowboarding. These particular boots don't have laces, they have a wire that tightens buy twisting the wheel on the front

Stomp Pad: When you are on a chair lift, you need to have your back foot out of your bindings. When you get off the chair lift you put your foot on the stomp pad so you have some grip with the loose foot, allowing you to ride under control, instead of your foot slipping

Helmet: Optional equipment, 30-40% of riders use helmets. They obviously protect your head from big falls and some helmets have spots for headphones so you can listen to music.
