LZMS South PTO Minutes

August 28, 2008

The meeting was called to order by Lana Fava at 7:03 p.m.

A motion was made to approve the new board by Sherri Adelizzi and was seconded by Kristin Keramidas board was approved.

8th Grade Bash – Ann Wayne, Joanne Glatz, Rita Thurston, Anna Venetos

·         No Report

 

Flower Sale – Jill Davis

·         Planning will begin in March.  This will be her last year at doing the flower sale.

·         They contacted the High School National Honor Society to help with the flower sale and they did a great job.  They were also asking for extra donations.

 

Grant Writing –

·         Committee is being eliminated

 

Halloween Activity –Kathy Donahue, Janet Peterson, Cheryl Eisenhuth

·         Committee met to divide responsibilities.

·         There is no particular theme this year.

 

Health & Safety/Character Counts –  Amy Haynes, Carmela Giovinco

·         They have a bullying assembly September 16th.

·         The next author and book project is Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick.

·         Committee is working with local police department on seminars for cyber bullying.

 

Hospitality –, Terry Ihm, Julie Schaefges, Sheila Pittman, Laurie Landgrebe

·         Luncheon went well all the teachers appreciated it.

·         Latte ladies are coming on October 24th.

 

Landscaping – Sherri Adelizzi

·         Courtyard has been cleaned up.

·         District is maintaining it.

 

Magazine Drive – Julie McPeek, Peggy Walding, Nancy McCullough, Linda Sinclair

·         Packets were home today for the magazine drive.

·         Iphone for post card books drawing on Friday the 29th. Second turn in date is Tuesday September 2nd.

·         Raffling gift cards for prizes.

·         Goal is $60,000.  This may be hard to hit because of the drop in enrollment.

·          If we reach goal Mr. Gardner, Mr. May and other teachers will go into dunk tank.

·         First turn in day is next Thursday September 4th.

·         Final day is September 11th.

·         With 20 orders kids can go to lunch in a stretch Hummer.   25 can go at a time.

·         Announcement on web and will be placed in the Lake Zurich Courier.

·         2 orders are needed for inflatables.

·         Donations are accepted if no orders and they can do inflatables.

·         We have had 60% participation in the past.

 

Market Day –Danielle Montemayor

·         No Report

 

Newsletter –  Krisitn Keramidas

·         Passed out the schedule of deadline and distribution dates.  Below are the dates that articles are due:

o        September 11th

o        October 16th

o        November 6th

o        January 15th

o        February 12th

o        April 16th

o        May 14th

 

Parent University – Eileen Mattison

·         No report

 

Publicity –  Susan McIlwain

·         Bullying seminar for parents. It will be put on the announcements.  Will get details at a later date.

 

Spiritwear –  Laura Dawson, Sharon Callard

·         There were two days of sales totaling $6,000.00 which made a $1,700. profit.

·         They are trying to do another sale at Xmas time, if they do it will be announced through the school announcements there will be some new merchandise.  Items for sale will be on the on the Internet.  They are going to see if they can put pictures on the web.

 

Student Supply Box – Vicki Clement, Cindy Miller

·         Made $1,200.00 . Prices were the same as last year. 

·         All late orders were accepted. 

·         All boxes were picked up.

·         Comments that the order form should not be stapled in the PTO packet in future year.

·         One of the notebooks may not have been correct for 8th grade. PTO will make right.

 

Volunteer –Sheryl Durment, Lee Carlson, Susan Sweeney

·         She has the list already, but computer crashed and she is trying to restore the list.

 

Old Business 

·         No report.

 

New Business

·         6th grade orientation is the same date as the next meeting, but the meeting will not be changed.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 8:00

 

Next meeting is September 11th at 7:00 pm.
