 Meeting Minutes

 

 

The meeting was called to order by President Stephanie Brown at 7:05 pm

 

Stephanie Brown – President-

 

-Introductions of the Executive Board were made.

 

-We are trying to reinstate Market Day at May Whitney – details to follow.

 

-Since we no longer have a copy center in the district, large copy jobs are to be done at the UPS store in Lake Zurich (by Dominick's) Please be sure to refer to May Whitney when dropping off something to be copied. We are being charged .03/copy. This includes collating, stapling, etc. Small jobs, under 100 copies are to be done in the PTO room. We are paying for our own paper. Please sign out the paper that is used. See a board member with any questions.

 

Alison Rigsby – Vice President

 

-Our PTO made a donation to the District 95 Education Foundation in the amount of $100.00 in the memory of Lindsay Gillilan. Lindsay was our kindergarten teacher who passed away unexpectedly this summer.

 

-We still have open committee chairperson positions. We are especially in need of Freaky Friday/Spooky Saturday volunteers to chair the food and spook house.

- 

-The auction committee is in need of someone to chair the food committee.

 

-Community Partnerships is in need of a chairperson.

The PTO room has been moved. It is now next door to Ms. Berk's kindergarten room. If you have items that you have bought for a specific event, and would like to store them in the PTO room, please mark them clearly.

 

The executive board does not want to micromanage, however, please keep us in the loop of your committee.

 

One grant in the amount of $249.16 was passed.

 

Dr. Bruemmer – Principal

 

-The first day of school got off to a great start. We are looking forward to a great year!

 

 

 

 

Amy Flahrety – Treasurer

 

-Please check your committee line items carefully. It is very important to stay within your budget.

 

-Please make frequent deposits of your committee's checks in order to make sure these checks clear in a timely manner. If your committee has a large amount of checks, please do not place them in the Treasurer's PTO box. You may leave them with Laura or Sonja in the office or drop them off to Amy's home.

 

-The Treasurer's report was approved by Kristen Rymarcsuk and Amy Harrow.

Committee Reports

 

Rummage Sale-

 

-Rummage Sale for gently used children's toys, books, and clothing  is Saturday, September 19, 2009 9-4 pm. We will be looking for volunteers to help with the preparation and sale. Further information to follow. Drop off dates for donations are Thursday, September 3rd 8:30-10:30 and Thursday September 10th  6:30-8:30 Please contact Lalitha Rajagopalan 847-307-5258  or Kim Ketcham 847-648-3888 with any questions or email maywhitneywildcats@yahoo.com

 

Buzz Book-Donna Young and Dana Vaselopulos

 

We will once again be giving community business and May Whitney Families with businesses the opportunity to advertise in the buzz book. Please contact Donna Young d4@young@ameritech.net or Dana Vaselopulos dana@ipmi.com

 

May Whitney students will be given the opportunity to design the cover of the buzz book. Winners will be selected from the Early childhood - 2nd grade and also grades 3-5. They will also be given a prize.

 

Back to School Picnic- Joelle Vollmer

 

-Over 600 families are scheduled to attend. We are looking forward to a great time!

 

Amy Harrow – Innisbrook Fall Fundraiser – August 28-September 11, 2009. Please ask family and friends to consider purchasing items in support of our school. Delivery is the 1st night of fall conferences. Every child who sells one item will win a prize.

 

Alison Rigsby – Entertainment Books will be sold for $20/each in the next few weeks. They will be distributed to the youngest or only child in the school. If you would not like to purchase the book, please send back to school.

 

 

 

 

Donna Young -Auction -Please start thinking about businesses that you may be able to ask to make a donation to the auction. Details to follow.

 

Jim Burke – School Board Liaison – Jim updated the PTO on the latest school board meeting.

 

Tina Jones and Donna Young made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:05pm. The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the school library at 7:00 pm.
