Dear May Whitney Families,
Congratulations to Kianna Novak, the Student of the Month for November. Kianna is a fourth grader in Mrs. Bohlmann’s class. Mrs. Bohlmann noted that Kianna displays all of the pillars of the CHARACTER COUNTS! Program on a daily basis. “She is a thoughtful, compassionate student who sincerely cares about others and does so with zest and enthusiasm. We are all very proud of Kianna! Mrs. Tina Jones was also recognized last night as the Parent Volunteer of the Month. Since her arrival at May Whitney a couple of years ago, she has worked tirelessly on many projects including the Book Fair. Mrs. Jones contributes her time and energy to many projects around the school and we are truly grateful for all she does!
It has been brought to my attention that there is some confusion in the morning regarding the three buses which drop off students in the Early Childhood Program. Please note that when the stop arm is out and the red lights are flashing, the driver behind the bus is required to stop. Please do not go around these cars and buses.
Save the Date - Please save Thursday, December 3rd. The elementary schools are planning a Volleyball Tournament in order to raise money for the Lake Zurich High School Charity Bash fund raiser. This year the high school has chosen the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Illinois as the charity. We are still finalizing our plans but it looks like May Whitney will be taking on Spencer Loomis in the first match at Middle School South.
There will be no newsletter next week.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving,
Deb Bruemmer Principal
PS – If your child is absent, please call the attendance line each day he/she is absent. The number is (847) 540-3900. Please note – the district is tracking all schools’ absences on-line. If you go to the district website, you can check on the percentage of students who are absent from school and also how many of those absences are due to flu like symptoms.
Also, if your child is going to be picked up early from school, please make sure you send a note. There are times when a sub may be in your child’s classroom. That person does not have access to the teacher’s computer, so no one receives the information.

Would you like to spread some holiday cheer onto someone’s life that is fighting for our freedom? If so, please read on…
There is a military family living in Kildeer, and the husband has been deployed to Afghanistan. He is a Navy Chaplain, who rejoined the reserves in 2005. He is attached to the NCMB Unit 22 of the Seabees (they are builders, engineers and fighters) who are tasked to build structures and infrastructure for the Navy and combined military service. The unit consists of 568 people and was originally scheduled to deploy to Iraq, but ended up in Kandahar, Afghanistan. They are presently living in tents, while waiting for supplies to catch up so they can build structures and shelter.
We are putting together a care package to send over before the holidays. On the back side of this sheet, you will find a list of items which have been requested. Supplies have been difficult to obtain due to delays in shipping caused by poor delivery routes. At this point in time they have resorted to using dirty laundry to wipe their noses as they have no Kleenex.
And for those of you who are very busy and may not have time to do extra shopping, but would still like to help, we could use help with the cost of shipping; small donations would be welcomed to off set those costs.
We will be collecting these items until Wednesday, December 2nd. There will be bins and boxes through-out the building for the donations. If you have any further questions, contact, Kendra Hurt: Kendra.hurt@lz95.org
Thanks and have a Great day!
