Minutes
October 27, 2009
The meeting was called to order by President Stephanie Brown at 7:15 pm. The September meeting minutes were approved by Nancy McGee and Lauren Amoroso.
Stephanie Brown – President-
-Thank you to all of the Back to School picnic, book fair, Freaky Friday/Spooky Saturday, and Rummage Sale volunteers.
-If you would like to submit an item to Dr. Bruemmer's newsletter or for Kim to e-blast, a final copy needs to be written by the committee before it can be submitted.
Amy Flaherty – Treasurer
-Please consider using a Target debit or credit card for purchases at Target. 1% of your purchase can be donated back to May Whitney. Please be sure to specify May Whitney as your designated school.
-Freaky Friday/Spooky Saturday and Book Fair- receipts are still being totaled. Final numbers will be available at the next meeting.
-If you would like a copy of the budget, Amy can email a copy to you. Please email her a2.flaherty@comcast.net if you would like to be included on the distribution list.
Alison Rigsby – one grant was approved by the board due to the fact that it was under $100. It was requested by the Early Childhood Team.
Kim Ketcham- The May Whitney PTO has formed a group on Facebook. It is just another avenue to find information regarding the PTO news and events. We will still be utilizing eblast and Dr. Bruemmer's newsletter.
Dr. Bruemmer -
-Absences look to be a little higher due to tardies and vacations. They are still under 10%.
-Please remember follow the district illness guidelines
-Please remember to call the school attendance hot-line located in the school Buzz Book, if you child will be absent.
-The Library it still looking for help on Tuesday. Please contact our school librarian, Mary Grunden.
Committee Reports
Buzz Book – Donna Young and Dana Vaselopulos– The Buzz Book was distributed to families today via backpack mail
Special Needs Support Network – Chris Wojtaszek– Kris will be the new liason between May Whitney and the group. The support group is for parent of children who need or are receiving any support in school. The group also addresses a variety of other parenting topics. They meet every Monday. For further details, please contact Chris Wojtaszek chriswojtaszek@comcast.net
-Alternative Fundraising -Diane Carpenter
-Jamba Juice will be introduced to the school as a new fundraiser. Details to follow. We will also be having proceed days/nights at Culvers, Yogi's and Chili's in the coming months. Details also to follow.
Book Fair- Tina Jones and Kristen Rymarcsuk -
-The Fall Book Fair was hugely successful. We are still figuring receipts. Details to follow at next meeting. All teachers received $25 in books. Our school also received a bonus for hosting the fair in October.
-PTO Liason – Jim Burke
District wide Map results were discussed. Please refer to the district website for further details of the test results and other agenda items from the meeting.
Kristen Rymarscuk and Elise Hood motioned to ajourn the meeting at 8:15pm.
***Due to the Thanksgivng Holiday Break, the next PTO meeting is Monday, November 23, 2009 at 7pm in the school library.
