My name is Joyann Clemens. I have been teaching in District 95 since 1993. I have two small children and a dog named Jackson. My husband Jerry is also a teacher in District 95. He teaches 7th grade science at Middle School North.
I grew up on the northwest side of Chicago and I have one younger brother who is a cosmetic/implant dentist in Barrington. My parents, who are both retired teachers, were my inspiration to enter this wonderful profession. I attended Northern Illinois University where I earned my undergraduate degree in Child Development. I received my master’s degree from National-Louis University in Early Childhood Education. I have achieved 60 hours of additional credits beyond my master's degree and consistently read and attend conferences relating to current educational practices, and apply many of the philosophies and ideas in my classroom. I have also been honored with District 95's "Teachers Make A Difference" -Golden Apple Award, and belong to "Who's Who Among America's Teachers".
I enjoy photography, being outdoors and reading. I am constantly in search of information and reading material that will enhance me personally as well as professionally. Mostly, I just love spending time with my family, no matter what we're doing.
As a parent, I understand the strong devotion & love you have for your child. As a parent of children in school, I understand your hope for a caring, kind, highly qualified teacher who challenges your child in creative ways that best fits their individual needs so that they realize their full potential. I am dedicated to being the kind of teacher for your child, whom I would hope for my own.
