(LAKE ZURICH, IL)—Due to blizzard
warnings posted for all of Lake County and much of
northern Illinois, ALL
SCHOOL EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED in
Community Unit School District 95 for today,
February 24, and Sunday, February 25.
This includes tonight’s Turnabout Dance at Lake
Zurich High School (LZHS), and the LZHS Pom trip to
Peoria. Tomorrow’s cancellations include the
District-wide Orchestra Festival and
Concert, CYT's performance of the Wizard of Oz, the
Cub Scout Blue and Gold dinner, and the Chinese
School New Year's party.
According to a weather alert by the
National Weather Service, the blizzard warning is in
effect until 12 Noon Sunday. According to the
weather alert, there could be snow amounts up to
eight (8) inches, with a wind speed of 30-35mph and
gusts to 40mph. This will create low visibility and
drifting snow which can lead to “whiteout”
conditions…making travel extremely dangerous.
