(LAKE
ZURICH, IL)—It is with great sadness that we
announce that Gary Robillard, a loving father,
husband and president of the Community Unit School
District (CUSD) 95 Board of Education, passed away
in the early morning of Sunday, April 15, after a
courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his
loving wife, Laura; children Adam and Amber, and
numerous other relatives. Visitation will be on
Thursday, April 19, from 5-7 p.m., at Alpine Chapel;
with the memorial service beginning at 7 p.m. Alpine
Chapel is located at
23153 W.
Miller Road, Lake Zurich. He will be interned in
Buffalo, NY.
Per
U.S. Code 4, USC 7(m), the school district has
lowered all of its flags to half-staff to honor Gary
Robillard and his dedicated service to the schools
and school children of CUSD 95. The flags will
remain at half-staff until his internment.
“It
was truly my great pleasure to work closely with
Gary,” said CUSD 95 Superintendent Brian Knutson.
“He was more than my board president, he was my
friend. He never gave up his fight, and he remained
a passionate advocate for our district's children up
to the end. He will be greatly missed and my
thoughts and prayers go out to Laura, Adam and
Amber.”
A
certified public accountant, Gary had served on the
school board for four years—including two years as
president—where he passionately advocated on behalf
of the community’s children and the taxpayers within
the school district. He also served as a founding
board member of the new School District 95
Educational Foundation, and he was active in
numerous other organizations.
Gary
Robillard was seeking re-election to a four-year
term on the April 17 ballot. According to the Lake
County Board of Elections, Gary Robillard’s name
will remain on the ballot as a candidate and votes
for him will be counted. Should the community choose
to honor him by electing him to another term, the
CUSD 95 Board of Education would then have 45 days
to seek applicants for the seat and then appoint an
interim board member who would serve until the April
2009 school board election. The seat would then be
on the April 2009 ballot for a two-year term
(105 ILCS 5/10‑10).
