Our first Character Counts! featured teacher is Mrs. Abboud. Here is what she says about how Charcter Counts! works within her Physical Education curriculum:

"The Character Counts! program at Spencer Loomis has always been an integral part of the Physical Education curriculum. This month's pillar of Respect is included in the National Standards for Physical Education. It states: students demonstrate an understanding and respect for differences among people in physical activity settings.

In the Physical Education class, students learn such concepts as teamwork, cooperation and conflict resolution. To treat others with respect during play and cooperate with others regardless of cultural background or physical disabilities. It is within the Physical Education program that students come full-circle and develop the characteristics necessary to perform and to be successful in our global community."
