What will your child be doing in art class?
Art education will encompass the major aspects of art-drawing, painting, weaving, 3 dimentional art and 2 dimentional design. When appropriate, students will complete at least one project in each of these areas. Children will be looking at art to learn about other cultures, places, artists and works of art. Children will be talking about art to discuss meanings, ideas, feelings and mood. Children will be making art to create expressive visual images.
When will your child have art?
Students come to the art room 1 day each week. Classes are 45 minutes in length. Your child will create approximately 8-12 art projects during the school year. An art project can require 2-6 class periods to complete. The 5th grade projects are usually fewer but more involved. Please have your child dress appropriately. Art can be messy!
We look forward to working with your child this year. Our goal is to create a safe, enjoyable, enviornment for learning and growth in the visual arts. If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call us.
