a WebQuest Lesson to introduce the Life,Times and Music
of Ludwig van Beethoven to 5th Grade General Music Students
Introduction:
You are an archeologist in the year
2999. You have been on assignment in Europe for the International Geographic
Association. You have discovered an ancient graveyard and one of the tombstones has
special interest for you. The name on the tombstone is Ludwig van Beethoven. You want to find out more
about this person for a timeline and article that will be featured in your magazine for
the third millenium celebration.

Task:
* Complete the study guide supplied by your music teacher.
* Create a timeline using the information you gathered from your study guide.

Process:
1. You need to discover when Beethoven was born and when he died.
2. Find three important facts about Beethoven's life.
3. Find three important events that occurred in the United States during Beethoven's
lifetime.
4. Find the names of three major compositions and when they were composed.
5. Place these items in chronological order on a timeline using two different colors
of ink:
one color for Beethoven information and another color
for the other facts.
