Subject: Multicultural-Brazil-Social Studies
Curricular Goal: To become more familiar with the cultures and customs of
Brazil
Introduction:
You have been hired by the United States Government to find out more
about the country of Brazil , so that the President can safely enjoy his planned
visit to Brazil. You will be investigating places, things, foods, etc., that the
President and the First Family would enjoy. When you accept this mission, your
assignment begins by parachuting from an airplane into the capital city of
Brasilia. While in Brazil, you will gather information about the country and
report back your findings.
Task:
You and your assigned group of fellow spies will create a scrapbook of your
adventures in Brazil, compiling information about the culture, customs, climate,
and other topics which would be of interest to the President, as well as
other visitors, to Brazil.

Process:
Each group member will choose three of the following topics to include in the
group scrapbook. Each individual should write his or her own name on the
pages that he or she completes.
• money
• holidays
• climate
• language spoken
• clothing
• foods
• population of Brazil
• regions (name all 5)
• animals
• traditions and customs
• places to visit (3 or more)
• sports
Each group must print a map of Brazil, and then outline the country with a
marker. A flag of the country must also be included in the final project.

Your scrapbook will be graded using the rubric.

Conclusion:
Congratulations! Air Force One is ready for take off. As an ending
activity, each of you will write a letter to the President with at least three
recommendations of what to do upon landing in Brasilia.
