Curricular Goal: Educate the students about the tragedy and politics of Hitler and  Nazi Regime

Introduction:

You are an investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune.  Your boss just dumped the hottest
story of the decade on your desk. A Nazi war criminal has been discovered living in your neighborhood under an alias.  Investigate the Nazis background and develop a timeline of when these events took place. The grapevine has led you to believe that he was involved throughout the entire ordeal.  You have decided to focus the years of 1938-1945.  Your job is to determine whether or not this man or any other person involved in your discovery should be placed on trial for war crimes committed against humanity or should tolerance prevail.

Task: You will research with the aid of the internet for a total of 5 days to complete your investigation and final product. 1. You will create a timeline from 1938-1945 and document at least 2 significant events from each year.  The timeline should be creative and hand drawn. 2. Investigate one specific person involved in Nazi regime and develop a one page typed character sketch discussing their actions.

Process: The first step you should take is to look up all web sites and familiarize yourself with each one.  Go to the first web site and begin gathering information for your timeline.  Once all the timeline information is gathered begin researching one specific individual associated with the Nazi regime.

Resources: Holocaust - Holocaust 2 - Holocaust 3

Evaluation: You will receive a product descriptor containing all criteria for the timeline and character sketch.
