Subject: Spanish, German or French
Curricular Goal: To plan a trip to a city where Spanish,  German or French is spoken as the primary language.

Introduction:
This project will enable you to travel to a city that you have always wanted to travel to without paying for it!  Use your skills to prepare a well thought out vacation documenting every step of your journey and report on it while incorporating the past tenses.  Include photos, text, graphics and anything else you think it exciting.

Task:
You will receive a passport from your teacher which you must keep until the end of the project and it must be included in your final draft.  This passport will eventually contain actual photos (that you will provide) of you and your partner, a date of departure and a destination.  Your destination is up to you!  Choose a city and use as many resources as possible to locate current information that would help you plan a trip there.  This project can be presented in various forms.  These include:  typed (in a 3 ring binder), slide presentation, PowerPoint presentation, movie, or any other form as long as it is cleared with your teacher before you begin.

Process:
Begin the project with doing a general search of your city of choice via books, magazines, travel guides, the internet or any other avenue you can find.  Gather information about the city, save, copy, highlight, bookmark or somehow remember where the information was found.  Compile your information and report on your city.  The following criteria should be included un your project.

    1.  the name
    2.  the type of currency used there (exchange rates available)
    3.  the size
    4.  the location
    5.  the population
    6.  the airline you will take
    7.  the price of the airline ticket
    8.  the name of the hotel where you will be staying
    9.  the accommodations and price of the hotel room
    10.  major attractions, monuments
    11.  name of the airport
    12.  public transportation availability/map of the city
    13.  typical food
    14.  dining customs (do's and dont's in a restaurant)
    15.  shopping hours
    16.  evening entertainment (tipping, what to see, what to do)
    17.  weather (what to pack)
    18.  documentation needed (passport, travelers checks, identification)
    19.  what to buy (for your teacher)
    20.  important phrases (how to go to the bank, the bathroom, the bus stop,etc.)/What not to say
    21.  flag
    22.  money

Evaluation:
You will be graded on grammar usage, creativity, overall presentation, and content.

        Content (50 pts.)
        Grammar (20 pts.)

        Level of Difficulty (10 pts.)
        Bibliography (5 pts.)
 

Conclusion:
At the conclusion of your project you will have gained a better understanding of many aspects of foreign travel and culture.
