Academic Program Description

Lake Zurich's K-8 Summer Semester offers a comprehensive, engaging, and appropriately challenging curriculum that allows students to develop academic, social-emotional, and future-ready skills. Lake Zurich K-8 Summer Semester offers a variety of programming including Summer Success, Extended School Year, Enrichment, Kindergarten Kick-Off, and Advanced Math Bridge for grades 4, 5, and 7. See course descriptions below.

Registration for D95 Students

There will be 3 windows to register students attending Summer Semester. The windows are as follows:

Registration period 1: March 16 - April 10th
Registration period 2: April 27th - May 15th
Registration period 3: June 1st - June 8th for 1st session of summer learning; June 1st- July 6th for 2nd session of summer learning

Student enrollment in courses is on a first-come, first-serve basis and determined by the date & time of payment.

To register for summer courses through ParentVUE:

Click on Online Registration in the top right.
Select the Summer Semester Registration K-12.
You will select your student's courses based on their 26 - 27 school year grade (i.e.student’s 25 - 26 grade was 1st grade. You will use the student’s 26 - 27 grade of 2nd grade).
Fill out the registration and submit for any/all students attending.
Fee payments can be made in PushCoin and are due prior to confirming a student's seat in the class.
Registration is considered complete when fees are paid in full.

The tuition/fees for K - 8 Summer Learning are detailed under each course title.

Please pay on Push Coin or make checks payable to Lake Zurich CUSD95. Checks can be sent to the District 95 Administration Center (832 S. Rand Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047), Attn: Business Office
Student enrollment in a course will not be guaranteed until payment is received. You will be billed through Push Coin within a week of registering your student. Payment must be made prior to Monday, June 8, 2026.
Again, please keep in mind that enrollment in courses is on a first-come, first-serve basis and determined by the date & time of payment.

Transportation

Bus Transportation to and from Spencer Loomis/Middle School North will be provided to all qualifying K-8 District 95 students and available on a limited first-come, first-serve basis. Please indicate at the time of registration if your child will need bus transportation. Transportation is a privilege to students and is only available at the start and end of each day. Contact transportationshared@lz95.org for questions regarding Summer Semester transportation. Transportation for ESY is included for all ESY students.

Refund Policy

The K - 8 Summer Learning Program is self-supporting. Therefore, we reserve the right to cancel any class that does not meet minimum enrollment guidelines. Families will be contacted by May 29, 2026, if their student’s course request cannot be accommodated due to limited enrollment. All fees will be refunded if a course is canceled due to insufficient enrollment. Once a summer session begins, there will be no refunds issued for that session.

Program Description	Summer Success Math Offerings Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 The following mathematics skills will be addressed in this program: addition and subtraction, place value, geometry concepts, mental math, measurements, and math vocabulary. Grades 6, 7, 8 Summer Success math promotes opportunities for reteaching, practicing, and maintaining priority standards from their current grade level to help prepare them for the next grade level. Summer Success Reading Offerings Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 The following reading skills will be addressed in this program: phonological awareness, alphabetic principles, vocabulary development and concept awareness, writing, and listening and speaking. Grades 6, 7, 8 The following reading skills will be addressed in this program: reading fiction and for information, vocabulary development and word study, writing, listening, and speaking.

Advanced Math Bridge Program - Grade 4

Program Description	The Advanced Math Bridge for Grade 4 is designed to support students who have newly qualified for the district’s Advanced Math Program, as well as students who experienced difficulty in Advanced Math 3/4 (students who have earned or earning Ds or Fs). This summer course provides targeted opportunities for students to demonstrate proficiency on the Grade 4 Priority Standards. Through problem-solving, hands-on activities, and focused skill practice, students will strengthen number sense, deepen early fraction understanding, and build confidence with multi-step tasks. Students must demonstrate proficiency on the Grade 4 Priority Standards to continue in the Advanced Math pathway. Students who do not show full proficiency will still enter or continue the program but will do so on a provisional basis, with additional monitoring and support during the school year.

Advanced Math Bridge Program - Grade 5

Program Description	The Advanced Math Bridge for Grade 5 is designed for students who have newly qualified for the district’s Advanced Math Program, as well as students who experienced difficulty in Advanced Math 4/5 (students who have earned or earning Ds or Fs). This summer course provides structured opportunities for students to demonstrate proficiency on the Grade 5 Priority Standards. Through problem-based learning, targeted skill development, and guided practice, students will strengthen their understanding of fractions and decimals, deepen their grasp of multi-digit operations, and build confidence with complex, multi-step tasks. Students must demonstrate proficiency on the Grade 5 Priority Standards to continue in the Advanced Math pathway. Students who do not show full proficiency will still enter or continue the program but will do so on a provisional basis, with additional monitoring and support during the school year.

Advanced Math Bridge Program - Grade 7

Program Description	The Advanced Math Bridge for Grade 7 supports students who have newly qualified for the district’s accelerated math pathway, as well as students who experienced difficulty in Advanced Math 6/7 (students who have earned or earning Ds or Fs). The summer course provides targeted opportunities for students to demonstrate proficiency on the Grade 7 Priority Standards. Students will engage in rich tasks that strengthen their understanding of ratios, rational numbers, expressions, equations, and proportional reasoning—skills essential for success in an accelerated program. Students must demonstrate proficiency on the Grade 7 Priority Standards to continue in the accelerated math pathway. Students who do not show full proficiency will still enter or continue the program but will do so on a provisional basis, with additional monitoring and support during the school year.

Bridge to Advanced Math

Program Description	This is a non-credit–based enrichment course designed to strengthen students’ mathematical foundations in preparation for Geometry, with a focus on the habits of thinking required for Honors Geometry. The curriculum reviews essential algebraic skills and introduces key geometric concepts, representations, and reasoning strategies. Emphasis is placed on precision, logical reasoning, and making connections between algebra and geometry. This course does not count toward the Math graduation requirement.

Extended School Year (ESY)

Program Description	ESY services are provided to eligible students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) who show signs of regression or struggle to recoup skills after a long break. The student’s IEP team reviews relevant data to determine eligibility for ESY. If your child qualifies, you will be notified by their case manager.

Program Description	Students entering or currently enrolled in our Spanish bilingual classes at Seth Paine have the opportunity to participate in our Bilingual Summer Semester. This program will include instruction in both reading and math in the language of instruction students would typically experience during the school year. The learning experience will mirror that of our monolingual Kindergarten Kickoff or Summer Success/Bridges Math and Summer Success/Bridges Reading by preparing students with the skills and knowledge they need to support them in the next grade level, all while also developing their knowledge of the Spanish language.

Program Description	Kindergarten Kick-Off consists of fun-filled days of readiness skills and activities to promote excitement and prepare students entering kindergarten in the fall. Program Description	Students will engage in a project-based curriculum in which they use the Engineering Design Process to define, research, hypothesize, build, test, redesign, and defend their ideas and prototypes. Hands-on learning activities allow students to develop critical thinking skills, collaborate, problem-solve, and engage with coding programs like Scratch Jr. Students will be learning to code using Scratch Jr. and Kodable, which are coding programs for kids. The course will also offer hands-on team-type STEM projects like building and assembling structures with given materials.

Program Description	Unleash your inner innovator in this dynamic, project-based course exploring the exciting intersection of coding, robotics, and game creation. Program Description	In this course, students will explore the world’s biomes with a focus on plants and animals and their interdependent relationships. Our days will be filled with engaging readings, interactive activities, and hands-on experiments and crafts to foster a fun and informative learning experience! Biomes covered in this unit include: desert, forest, ocean, rainforest, tundra (alpine and arctic), and savannah. Students will track their work in an “Explorers Journal,” acquiring a wealth of knowledge and vocabulary.

Program Description	Pack your (imaginary) suitcase and get ready for an unforgettable journey! In this exciting class, 3rd-5th grade students will explore the vibrant cultures, traditions, and landmarks of countries across the globe. Each day, we'll "travel" to a new destination, uncovering its history, geography, language, music, art, and games! Through hands-on activities like crafting traditional artwork, learning basic phrases in new languages, and participating in games originating from different countries, students will gain a deeper appreciation for the diversity of our world. Interactive games, storytelling, and creative projects will keep every explorer engaged and inspired.

Program Description	In this course, students will explore graphic novels as a unique type of storytelling that combines words and pictures to share ideas and tell engaging stories. Students will read a variety of graphic novels and learn how images, panels, dialogue, and text work together to develop characters, setting, and plot. They will build reading, thinking, and discussion skills while also creating their own short graphic stories. This course encourages creativity, strengthens literacy skills, and helps students become thoughtful readers and visual storytellers.
