High School Booster Consolidation Update

Dr. Lambert and Mr. Tom Meyer presented information including the highlighted representative committee, the goal, completed steps, and next steps.

Goal: Use a collaborative decision-making model to consolidate all current booster clubs into one single booster club at the start of the 2022-2023 school year.

Student Information System Update

Considering the challenges with support, the lack of platform flexibility, and the absence of a forward thinking roadmap, the District has begun to solicit new solutions for a new Student Information System. Vendors have been invited to propose a complete SIS system consisting of; software, data hosting, installation, data conversion; training; software support; reporting and integration with federal and state reporting requirements.

The District intends to recommend a SIS solution in May of 2022 that will meet the District’s anticipated needs over a minimum 10–15-year time horizon.

Forward95 Action Plan Update 2C20 – Meaningful Data

Action Plan 2C20: Use meaningful data to guide instruction, programming, and collaboration.

Dr. Walsh presented an overview of past work, current work and future work for this action plan. Current work includes implementation of Mastery Connect and Videri.

  • Mastery connect is a K-12 digital assessment management system designed to support data driven instruction. Implementation of Mastery Connect began over the summer of 2021.
  • Videri is the analytic application that combines data from key district data sources and provides access to highly interactive visualizations of integrated data so educators can measure, manage, and improve student outcomes.

School Calendar 2022-23

The Calendar Committee brought forth a calendar for review. The Board will vote on the calendar at the January 27th, 2022 Board of Education meeting.

Details of the Recommended 2022-23 Calendar:

  • First day of school (student attendance) will be Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
  • First semester will end before Winter Break, Wednesday, December 21, 2022 with a staff Institute Day planned for 12/22/2022.
  • Last day of school will be Friday, May 27, 2022 with emergency days identified as June 5, 2023.
  • The number of days between each semester is unequal. The committee will address this in future school year calendars.

This calendar has used the guidance from the Regional Office of Education regarding Spring Break in 2023. The current attached calendar schedules Spring Break for March 27 – March 31, 2023.

Board Calendar 2022-23

Each year the Board of Education is obligated to adopt and post its meeting schedule for the forthcoming school year. The Board will vote to finalize the meeting schedule at the January 27th, 2022 meeting.

Football Uniform Bid

Administration has identified the need to purchase new high school football uniforms for the coming school year. The Board reviewed the recommendation and will vote on it at the January 27th, 2022 meeting.

Award of Construction Bids

The following motions were approved:

  • Motion to award the Middle School South STEAM Addition – Phase I construction contracts as identified in Exhibit A and authorize the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations to execute the contracts.
  • Motion to award the Middle School South STEAM Additions and Library Renovations for the Middle School North / Spencer Loomis – Phase I construction contracts as identified in Exhibit A and authorize the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations to execute the contracts.
  • Motion to award the Isaac Fox / Middle School South Corridor Flooring replacement construction contracts as identified in Exhibit A and authorize the Assistant Superintendent for Business and Operations to execute the contracts.

Resolution Authorizing Intervention in PTAB Appeals

The Board approved the Resolution Authorizing Intervention in Proceedings Before the State of Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board as presented.

Health & Wellness: COVID Update

General health updates were provided for the 60047-zip code the voluntary screening test results. The superintendent also shared the internal district case information including the following:

District 95 Internal Data

  • Total Cases to Date: 206 (24 staff, 182 students)
  • Current active cases (students/staff currently in isolation): 5 staff, 41 students
  • Current school-based exclusions: 46
  • Current staff/students in test-to-stay protocol: 0 staff, 13 students

Additionally

  • Currently able to sustain in-person learning
  • Transportation
    • Lakeside Concerns
    • Combined District Routes
    • Eliminated One Late Activity Bus at each middle school
    • One new driver started
  • Huge thank you to several families for supporting this district by signing up to substitute teach and help in other areas of need
  • Higher numbers of student positive cases at larger buildings (MW, MSN, MSN, LZHS), as expected
  • Students/staff members now eligible for return earlier, resulting in reduced days of in-person instruction/work missed
  • Due to reduction in isolation window (from 10 days to 5 days) for COVID-positive cases, 66 total staff/students were eligible to return on 1/10/22 (52 students, 14 staff members)

Guidance Updates

  • IDPH-ISBE released additional guidance on 1/11/22, affirming CDC guidance and clarifying additional recommendations for schools
  • Affirmed reduction in quarantine and isolation windows from 10 days to 5 days (with certain conditions met)
  • Extended test-to-stay as a potential option for other school exposures (lunch)
  • Added clarification regarding return to athletics/extracurricular activities (students can return following Day 5 after an isolation/quarantine with adjustments, can resume competition on Day 10)
